2D Surface Texture parameters
ISO 4287
This standard was revised in 1997 and has replaced the previous version published in 1984. Several parameter definitions have been modified compared to the 1984 version and some parameters have been discarded. ISO 4287 defines general purpose parameters (i.e. not application-oriented). These parameters can be calculated on the primary profile (P-parameters), on the roughness profile (R-parameters) or on the waviness profile (W-parameters). They can be applied on profiles measured by stylus or optical profilometers, or on profiles extracted from areal measurements made by 3D profilometers or microscopes. Amplitude parameters
Spacing parameters
Hybrid parameters
Material ratio parameters
Parameters evaluation
ISO 4288 defines the way parameters should be evaluated. The default procedures is to calculate a parameter evaluator on each sampling length of the profile, then provide the averaged value, except for the primary profile where only one value is calculated over the evaluation length. ISO 13565
ISO 13565 was published in 1996. It contains three parts:
This standard is the international version of the German automotive standards DIN 4776 and DIN 4777. ISO 13565-2 parameters
DIN 4777 also defined Rpk* and Rvk* as the upper and lower heights before correction with the equivalent area (these parameters are also calculated in Mountains). ISO 13565-3 parameters
ISO 12085
This standard was published in 1996. It provides a way to define upper envelopes on profiles, a method to define motifs on the roughness or waviness profile and defines parameters calculated on motifs. This analysis method was originally developed by the French automotive industry in a CNOMO standard. Motifs parameters
The CNOMO standard also defined additional parameters: SR, SAR, SW, SAW, Rke, Rpke, Rvke, Cr, Cl, Cf, which are provided in Mountains.
